Christmas Celebration in England



The English Christmas celebrations include the beautiful Christmas music, decorated Christmas Trees and hang up evergreen branches. Christmas tree are decorated with the paper stramers and has Christmas lights that flashes on and off.

Surprisingly there is no holiday on Christmas Eve (the day before Christmas) but companies should leave the employees during the lunch time. The day is very special to kids since they will be expecting a Christmas gift from Father Christmas on late night or next day early morning.

As expected Father Christmas brings gifts to the children who were good in the previous year and sack of cinders to the kids with bad behaviour. Father Christmas come from Lapland where he lives and works. He used to wear a long red or green robe.

During meal served everybody will wear christmas cracker hat for the entire afternoon. England the traditional Christmas dinner is roast turkey with vegetables and sauces.

The day after Christmas is the Boxing day. No one have the reason behing the name Boxing day. It’s national holiday in England. It is a custom in England giving Christmas Box to postman, dustbin man etc. Boys goes around to collect money in clay boxes. After collecting the money they broke the box to take the money out.
